Curculonidae

The snout nose beetles number over 80000 species.

Apart from their snout and geniculate antennae with small terminal clubs , these beetles vary dramatically in morphology.

They are virtually all herbivorous.

They can be very stiff when dried , which can lead to damage when trying to set them. Place them in a container with tissue paper soaked in clear vinegar for a day or two- they should be pliable . Keep them away from the vinegar however as it can discolour them.
