About seven species of medium to large butterflies with characteristic colour patterns. They are probably the fastest flying butterflies in the Neotropics , but are solitary, shy and wary. The males have yellow androconial tufts on the upper surface of he hindwings, whilst the ocellus near the apex, and the one near the torus are markedly enlarged- in contrast to the Archaeoprepona species.
