Papilio cressida insularis

This is the sole member of this family. Unlike other male Papilio  this species has no valvae, or claspers in the genitalia. Instead  there is a hook like projection. The female has transparent wings and after copulation some of the sperm  create a pouch like structure  'sphragis' on the abdomen.

they are seen around flowers and when disturbed it changes its usual  lazy flight  to one of great speed.
