These are members of the Xenophoridae family. They move by rhythmic muscular contractions to glide over their own secreted slime. Their muscle can lift 2-3 times the weight of the animal, and can move about 230cm/day.

This family are called the carriers, because they attach little fragments of coral or pebbles to their shell for camouflage .
