Batesia hypochlora

This beautiful butterfly lives in primary forest at 200-1200m and is the sole member of the Batesia genus

Range - Amazonian basin 

Normally seen as solitary males that sit with wings spread basking in light at the base of trees or by streams.

Also known as the clown due to its large  bright  patches of colour. The upper surface  of the wings is iridescent blue
